So this is the time of year when I typically disappear. The day job tends to get a little out of control, and frankly, I start eating pasta with butter and garlic salt for every meal. But not this year – I swears it! This year, I will continue to 1. Eat reasonable food that is made at home and 2. Take one or two hours a week to tell you about it. But right now, it’s time for May food events, and I’m totally excited. Summer is almost here!

Mobilize for Istanbul Grille!

What Istanbul Grille can pull off without a full kitchen is admittedly pretty amazing. Josh plays it down, calling it “Turkish fast food,” but puh-lease. To wit: Remember when I mentioned the baba ghanoush three paragraphs ago? I don’t tend to go for eggplant, but I think the baba ghanoush at this place is transcendental. So luscious and richly flavored, it seems like it must contain a quart of cream, but no, it’s vegan-safe.
