Welcome to the New Burghilicious

Things sure are looking different around here!

I hope that you’re as happy with the new look of Burghilicious as I am. It’s been quite a weekend – what do you call it when your search bar has passed out from too much Googling? – but it was worth it. I’ve got a brand-new content management system, a pretty new masthead and a lot more functionality.

Here are just some of the changes that should have been made long ago:

  • Posts are filed by category (!)
  • Monthly archives are labeled with dates (!)
  • A new blog roll, which I’ll update as my fickle tastes dictate
  • Posts are now easier to share on your favorite social networking sites

Please bear with me as I work to ensure that all of my old posts are now linking up with their new addresses. It might take a day or two as this particular process goes way beyond my technical skills.

But while you’re here, why don’t you grab the feed? Just click the dandy little “Subscribe” button in the left hand corner to add Burghilicious to your Google homepage, or better yet, your Outlook inbox so you can read at work. (If you had the old feed, it should update automatically – but if you find you aren’t getting new posts, grab the new feed.)

Or, if you’d prefer to subscribe via email (I’m talking to you, Mom!), you can have new posts delivered directly to your inbox. Sign up on the left, or just click here.

I’ve got a few more tricks up my sleeves in the next few days, but before that, I’d love to hear what you’d like to see on Burghilicious. More recipes? More people? More places? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll see what I can do!

And until I hear from you, I give you the dancing carrot.

I love the new look! Congratulations.
As far as what I’d like to see more of, well, more of the same would be great and a bit more “Pittsburghness” is always fine. As a fellow Burgher, I always like to read about new finds in my own town.

It looks fantastic!

Rock star! Categories, even!

Yeah, it’s pretty unfortunate what a hassle adding categories would have been in the old format. Adding anything, really – it all had to be coded, like with code and stuff.

The updated site looks great.

Regarding and content changes, I don’t think any are necessary. I’m always impressed by your baking adventures and enjoy reading an occasional review to get some outside perspective. The only thing that would be fun to see more of is what you call “foodie philosophy.” It might be cool to get some back and forth conversation on the subject floating around the Pittsburgh foodie blogosphere.

Happy blogging!

Love the new look and laughed out loud at the dancing carrot! :) Congrats on all your hard work!

It looks great! One of my favorite blogs.

What else are you supposed to do when you get a carrot with legs in your farm box? I had been sitting on that one for a while… it just didn’t seem appropriate for anything else. :)

YAY for dancing carrots!!! :) The new look and functionality ROCKS!

I miss the Dozen cupcake, though, :( and for some reason my browser is cutting off your new masthead so that it says “Burghilicio (and half a “u”) Pittsburgh’s Yummiest”. While you undoubtedly ARE “Pittsburgh’s Yummiest”, I think maybe the masthead is still supposed to refer to the *blog*. ;)

(shrug) Could just be my weird browser.

Lisa, your browser zoom is probably set off the default. If you adjust the text size (you probably need to zoom out), everything should look fine. I set my Firefox default size for 16 points, and almost every website looks great for me.

Well, I finally got caught up with your blog. Love the new look? We shared the dancing carrot (and your play with the cats voice) around the office a little bit. I want to put it at my Facebook page. Sounds like your blog has really taken off. It’s really great that Pittsburgh Magazine has been in touch with you!

Your mom told us about the dancing carrot – had to check it out. Will it be going on stage any time soon? It is cute! I enjoyed reading your blog. For none Burghers, the pix of town and restaurants are especially nice.
